arowana tank with low PH
we have a ~2yo highback arowana in office 4ft tank (had it for 1.5 years)
filter used is eheim 2028 (with ceremic rings and sponge) just tested the water and found that the PH was 4.5! wonder how did the PH get so low when the tap water is 7+ |

excess food scraps rotting, fish waste, fish exhalation results in build up of CO2 in the water which makes the water acidic.

Try adding sodium bicarbonate. Add a pinch by a pinch. Since yours is 4ft. Will make your ph shoot up. Plz correct me I'm wrong

did some water change and cleaning in early Jan. Also washed the filter media (with tank water) after CNY. the tank appears clean and clear
the tank has a powerhead for better water circulation and rainbar from above water level blowing downwards for aireation its main food source are mealworms - we have stopped giving superworms because food scraps dirty the whole tank after feeding |

lyk wat bro koji say, do water change and add coral chips..
in order for.the coral chips to buffer well, ensure there is water flow thru the coral chips |

U got up your BB cos if ammonia at low PH is very deady to fish.
Once for making your ph to be so low might be the ammonia. If your tank water is a lot it is still ok for now at it is burning your aro fin and scales and it causes scales drop or fin rot. Do a 40% water change and get 3kg CC to bring up your PH. If your PH at 7 your BB multiply. If PH at 5 BB all die. Test the ammonia level if very high go any Lfs get API ammo lock it will instantly make your harmful ammonia harmless. Another causes might be over doses of black water might cause water PH to drop.. |
