3ftx1.5ftx1.5ft will depend on type and size of bichir you intend to keep...

juv bichirs can keep more as long as your filtration is suffice......

adult upper jaw can keep 4-5 pcs...exclude ornate/teugelsi...

lower jaw will grow up to 30inches hence 3ft tank not advisable....
Thanks for the advise bro, my 3ft tank got 11 bichir but all 4-5inch. Need to plan a new project soon hahaah

If u keeping upper jaw, like del, senegal, palmas palmas, palmas beuttikoferri, mokes or polli palmas, think 15pc still ok as they grow to 14' max in a tank. If upper jaw like teug, ornate, weeksii or retroponis, less than 10pcs as they can grow to quite big.

If endis or others, best is 1-3pcs a tanks. Too many bichirs in a small tanks will inhabits its growth. The most I kept in a 3ft tank is 25pcs of all species, but proven too small for them.

Will it slow down their growth? Wow bro 25pc of fish. Got pic? lol

Tank size will not slow down the growth, only limits the size they can grow to. Food and clean water will helps to promote growth.

As for pics, I dun have, but the videos I posted earlier are 2 samples. Both tanks got 30-40 bichirs each. Then bigger endies was 13-15inch when I shifted them from a 3ft tank. Now they are much bigger. The last time I measured, the biggest is about 19inch.

btw what do u have?

These are big monster later. Your 3ft wont be able to see that they grow till big big. However u can keep till u wanna consider change fish tank or change fish.

Very normal, unless it looks bloated and swims with a funny motion. It was discussed in many other earlier threads. Do a search and u will find many thungs u need to know about polypterus aka bichirs.
