Default How to fully drain large tanks?

Hey bros,

Just gotten a second hand 6ft tank not long ago. Was looking through the forums about how ppl treat their tanks before cycling. The most frequent advise is to salt dipped the tank and fully drain its content afterwards to kill off bacteria, remove chemicals etc. I tried to drain the tank using a siphon and power head but couldnt drain it completely after a certain height. Any useful suggestions on how I can fully drain the tank? Thanks in advance.

For me, after draining the maximum and the suction stops, I will start adding water and continue washing and draining ......

I would drain as much as I can, than climb in and use a pail and cloth to finish up.

I'd use a vacuum cleaner that could suck water to suck up the balance. Subsequently use a cloth to dry the tank.

yep....siphon out as much as possible then use a cloth to dry it.
Try to get those big piece type where it has good absorbing water quality.
One example, i use the big piece type for drying car.....can buy cheaply from petrol kiosk. Those with good adsorption.......for 6 footer probably will about 10min to 15min plus to completely dry the bottom.

Use a small dustpan to scoop up the water. You will be surprise how dry you can do it. After that use sponge. Clean job.
