I use fresh anchovies. Sometimes don't even need to cut, feed head and all.
Bought from Malaysia supermarket. RM6-7 per kg, depend on stock. I also keep a lookout for small kunning or kambong, about RM5-6, not always have, big one cost more. And I got some don't know what fish, quite big but RM3-4 per kg, have to cut, also not always have.

Anchovies are my preferred choice because no need to cut and very high protein, my biggest gar, 2-3inch bigger then the batch, is the first to whack the anchovies.

i ask because my tropical gar colour seem to turn darker as he grow from 7'' to about 12''normal or adnormal?however still can see the distinct irregular big black spots all over the brown body as compare to regular olive green smaller spots all over the golden body of florida gar.any inputs?

3 of my tropicals turned dark but 1 piece is light based.. They all have irregular big spots on their backs. Will try to take pics and post when I'm free.

Try pellets, Mine feed on floating koi pellets as well..

I got mine from Econsave, its quite far away from JB central, 30min drive, but near my work place. But its cheap because its target customers are those small hawkers. I dont know if they have outlets near JB.

Tesco should be next, but still a little more ex. The one beside Jusco. KSL city one not so cheap. Please share if you can find cheaper still supermarket.
