What i normally do is after placing the LR, i grind them against each other for slightly better grip. If you want to be kiasu, epoxy can be used to secure LR together, this would ensure they will not slip but when you want to seperate them, it's not that easy.
Go for odd shaped rocks rather than those round boulder shaped ones. Odd shaped rocks are easier to stack.
