aggressive? ok lar I used to have about 8 of them at one time many years back... can be hand fed somemore so quite cute... but they too require cool environment to do well and cold water to breed...

can u imagine I went to yunnan last year and at a stall selling herbs I saw few thousands dried mandarin newts on sales at RMB$2-4 per jin??

Maybe I may have mistaken the two species liao. Because there's this monsterous one in china as well. Aggressive is it's middle name.

Actually you know they look kind of like the Vietnamese salamander only darker.

I have a few Paramesotriton deloustali but mine pics are really bad, so got a pic from the net

If not wrong, the last picture look very much like a paddle tail newt. Aggressive bugger.
