Default Breeding Ray in 5ft x 2ft

I have one pair of pearl and pearl sp rays in a 5ft x 2ft x 2.5ft tank.

Has anyone been successful in breeding rays in this kind tank size (5ft x 2ft)?

My rays have been together for 1.5 years now.. and both are matured.

Male around 12", Female 14"

(Yes.. I know the tank size is not ideal .. but upgrading is not an option now due to space constraint).

have a friend who bred motoros in a 100galon
6foot x 18inches
the female before he sold them was 19inches male 15inches
also had another pair on the same tank around 10-12inch
space was tolerable but of course upgrade if you can

Breeding is mainly about compatibility between the 2 also. My most mature male doesn't seem interested in the only female in the tank. On the other hand, her first born keeps trying to mate with her but failing which, bites her..

is do-able
many hv done that successfully, but your filteration must be tip top
and monitor the female, the male can get too aggressive when horny, must hv provision to separate both if situation get bad

Thank you all for the input.

There is still hope then.

Just an update.. the rays sizes are actually much bigger now.
Male: 14" and female: 17"

There is one 40cm aro in the tank.

Another question.. is there any tips on improving the breeding chance?
Increase feeding? Change water more frequently? Lightning? etc?

Since tanks are a constraint, you may want to think ahead and plan how you are going to house the pups once they are born.
