Basically, koi can grow up to a good size but if you are getting small ones at a low price (from jap), usually does not go beyond 60 BU (or 60 cm).
Koi are separated into 13 cats where the main 3 cats are: 1) Kohaku - Red and White color koi 2) Sanke - Red and white with small black patches of black pattern 3) Showa - Red and white color on a black base fish, some would call it large patches of black pattern. To keep in fiber tank is not problem but many people misconcept that koi needs big space only. However koi needs depth to maintain its nice figure. To shallow, you will not have a nice toperdo shape koi but a B52. Check out those koi in Suntec you will know what I mean. Minimum ht, if you can is 3ft but 5 ft is only consider average. So FGT to achieve such depth is not easy. You can refer to this link for more info on koi, http://www.koi.com/ Here is my past koi pics, http://www.arofanatics.com/members/a.../mykoiforsale/ Koi hobby is not cheap if you dun ge someone to guide you along. I spend $$$ until I learn how to see, select and groom a koi to its maxi for competition. So advise is, learn from someone you know who knows koi. |

Midori tends to turn dark grey when big so dun advise to buy this type of koi as it needs the 4 seasons (cold period) to maintain its look. Not a koi to keep in Singapore.
