It's another marketing gimmick. A profantec or toyomi fan is also 8-10x or more stronger than a "computer" fan(8 inch? 12 inch?)... I believe they use about the same wattage too(should be around 10 watt to 20 watt range).

46 bucks for such a fan as compared to 15 bucks for the clip on fans.

pro-
silent
slender/compact

con-
expensive
"only points down"

It's not aircon, aircon use so much power as it needs to compress and drive the liquid coolant, not to blow out the air.

If you look at the size as compared to the guy's hand, I think it's for 2ft to 4ft tank.

I would rather pay for the coolermaster crossflow fan, much larger for my 4ft and above tanks. And get a 300 watt PSU or DIY a 12 volt system/adapter to drive it. Take note on the specs, fan usage life, should be applicable to the above aquarium product too.

Specs:
Cooler Master Cross Flow Fan Technical Specifications
Dimensions 50×50×336mm
Weight 400g
Voltage DC12V
Start Voltage 5V
Current 0.24A
Speed

* OFF : 0 RPM
* LOW : 1400 RPM (6.5V)
* MIDDLE : 1800 RPM (8.5V)
* HIGH : 2500 RPM (12V)

Noise Level

* OFF : 0dB
* LOW : 22dB
* MIDDLE : 30dB
* HIGH : 38dB

Airflow 1.3m³/min
Pressure 2.0mm H20
Fan Usage Life 30,000 hrs
Bearing Type Ball Bearing

look into those normal air conditioning used at home, not the on ceiling big big squarish type, u can also see its using the same type of fans to run the air. and just standing below it you can feel the wind. i wonder normal computer round fans can produce that much power??

Last year it was about 70-80 dollars, now I think the price should be around 50 dollars. It's the cooler master cross flow fan.
