Soil expire will lose effect to hold Ph low, it depends on ur water for wc.

3) Hearsay if soil expire it will give out harmful substance what kind of harmful substance will it give out? This is very crticial for shrimp keeper can be like a overnight disaster

Sorry I not sure whether will it give out harmful substance or not

4) Normally how often do you change your soil?

When I wan change the look of the tank. But I do have tanks that the soil is more than 2 years and shrimps is still breeding well in it.

5) How do you know that your soil need to be change? By looking at time or what kind of factor?

if ur soil lose it's effect to buffer Ph. But if u know how to treat ur water to get the Ph u require then is not a must to change soil.

Is same as u ask abt using sand.
Bai thank for all the feedback will arrange a time and meet up with you soon.

Bai,

1) what is the most acceptable PH for PRL to breed and show it true colors?

2) If i'm using sand, for what i know by increasing the PH i just need to add baking soda will this cause adverse harm to the shrimp?

3) If my Ph is high normally what did you do to lower your PH if you are using sand any recommendation?

Thanks you..

I'm keeping them in wide range for Ph from 5+ to 6+.

Why do u need to increase PH? Since most shrimps need low Ph unless u going to keep Sulawesi.

depends how high is ur Ph. U can use peat to slowly reduce ur Ph or reset ur tank.

Nice idea.

How much soil are you using? Enough to buffer the PH to your requirements?
