And you mentioned need to put both fresh and salt water for the Hermit Crabs, is that a must? Cannot just put fresh water?
I can just buy marine salt to mix with water instead of buying salt water from LFS?
Thanx for all the clarification.
1) most lfs should carry the sudo bottom sand. i bought mine from y618, c328 also have them.

2) yes. it is a must to have both fresh and salt water for them. providing either only 1 will lead to their death. you can also buy marine salt but they often come in big packages.. so for me, salt water is easier.

actually ok la. first set up need to get more things done, other than that, just everyday, top up their water. and feed new food. no other maintenance needed. maybe once per 2 weeks, change the lay out abit so the crabs wont get too bored.

An additional way to keep your crabs (and the crabitat) healthy is to mist the tank! misting keeps the humidity high and crabs love it too. keeping the sand moist is important too.

i use a mister bought from daiso to mist the tank once in a while. it sends any lazy hermits to go into a frenzy!

Means you buy salt water from LFS then store in a bottle for future use?

yes. $1 can get u a rather large bag. probably around 5 - 8L worth. i only need a 10 - 20ml a day so i only store 1 1.5L and a 500ml bottle for easier use. probably can last me a month or 2 before i need to buy the water again. the smallest pack of ocean salt i can find is 2kg. which is way too much for my crabs now though...

Hi bro, i think it would be better to provide larger water dishes for your crabs. Because with such small water dishes the water will evaporate very quickly, and especially for salt water, the salinity will fluctuate a lot.

If you are worried that the crabs wont be able to climb out of the larger water dish, you can use the sand to make a gentle slope in the water dish.
