it is packed in a bag when i choose it. I used back the water when i put in my tank which is ard 1/3 portion. the puffer fish is not active in my tank maybe 2/3 of the freshwater.

If the water from the bag is saltwater or brackish, you should have noticed when releasing the fish into your freshwater tank

Amiidae ID correct.

So if you didn't notice anything when you mixed the water, it should be freshwater. So, it should be alright?
