Wow loves your setup, but the coral rocks maybe too spiky for your fronts.

Having said that the 6 ft tank should have enough space for them to roam around.

Thanks Bennyliv.
You're right that 6 ft is alot of space for them to roam.
I also find that the Cyps Letosomas' presence really calms the fronts and other tangans.

Lovely lovely Tangan community! Can show a full-tank view?

Comments :
- careful that the fronts don't eat the smaller tankmates
- lose the malawis and make it full tangan!
- are those plants live? Any problem maintaining them?

Nice community tank and very interesting to see the many different inhabitants interact.

Btw cyps are fronts natural diet in the wild. Do maintain the size ratio.

Thanks for your nice words. I'll try take a full tank view as soon as I can.

Yes Fronts can eat smaller fish. Key is to have big swimming area and dont have too many of them,
I've given a couple more Malawis away. Problem is they are very hard to catch!

It's unavoidable that some tangan species will disturb and uproot plants. You must tie metal weights at the root tips and wedge them firmly into substrate or holes in rocks.
Temperature is most important for plants. Most plants dont grow well in anything above 29 degrees.
My tank is maintained between 26-27 degrees with use of 3 cooling fans. Can't use more because the evaporation rate is too great.
Sometimes I turn on my hall air conditioner and get the temp down to 25ish.
I feel tangans do best around this temp.
Chiller is best but too costly for me.
Some species I would recommend include Elodea, Cabomba, Java fern and Anubias.

Thanks Airified.

No problems at all.

Here are some specs:
- Two canister filters- Eheim Pro3 and Eheim 2028
- 20-30% water change every week.
- Add Epsom salt, Marine salt and African Cichild salt each time
- PH 8.4
- Feed twice, at most thrice a day. Controlled feeding

In my opinion, PH, temperature and water hardness are most important and in that order.

Thanks for the plant tip - temperature!

I have always wanted to have plants in my tank but have never had much success.....they really do add a more natural feel to the overall setup.
