newbie qns
do i need a co2 diffuser for plants .. i have lotsa fish in the tank .. its a 4.2.2ft tank ... and why is the surface oily ?? any special care required for plants??

wah, you got a lot to learn man! but few years back, i use to ask these qustions too! now forumers a bit relax liao cos last time they will ask you to do a search on the past threads b4 posting a new question. anyway,
oily suface = normal for planted tank -----> use surface skimmer difuser = fine small bubbles = more efficient for co2 to dissolve in water ---> check up on DIY CO2 reactor if you want even more efficiency do read up on sticky at sub forum, very useful and welcome to the planted world! |

wat does the surface skimmer do ?? as my tank also got a layer of oil on top

surface skimmer will skim out the oily surface.
as oily surface will reduce the light penetrate into the water and as well as gas exchange. |

I'm pretty comfy with the oily surface
Hahaha... contains lots of microscopic stuff which i believe my lamp eye fries fed on... Infusoria i believe is the word for it... |
