Looks like my male del is ready to mate. I have been noticing cupping for the last 2days, my only problem is female not ready. Eggs not ready yet. Maybe have to wait again. Any advice on breeding them?

How frequent is ur every day? Once a day or the whole day like that for the day? Do u see nibbling or some chasing? I see some activities in my tank, but female not ready. I know ur bichirs are big enough to mate liao. Maybe u can try some breeding and share with us.

Do u have a fertile female del to borrow from ur wc del stock? I like the thick bar of a few of them.

I never take note of the frequency... just happened that everytime I look at them I will notice these behavior... but never pay attention to nibbling... my dels still small... never notice any cupping... not into breeding... but if it happened will be bonus... surely will share if the day comes...

Hm... those dels in ur 4ft tank dun look small to me. Likely 8-10inch, the last time i went ur house, so by now should be bigger. Should be ready to mate unless they no longer around/ with u Anyway I also think is a matter of luck if they ever breed in fish tank. Or if we can create the same conditions as the japanese breeder to breed them.

I hope that day will come too. Hope got others ppl can share here if they have experience breeding them.

I didn't know at 8"-10" can breed...as delz can grow up to 14"...those delz has passed on due to my negligence...currently ones smaller and still growing...Thks...
