Allow your plants to be matured, i.e. firmly rooted, before the introduction of the fish. My channas have a terrible trait of uprooting loads of plants during the initial phase.
Try E.tenullus, fast growing and easy to maintain plant for the foreground. I have them in almost all my channa tanks. Which species of dwarf channa would you be keeping? |

Yea im gonna wait a few months at least, channas are strong swimmers and will def uproot the plants now.
Im keeping fire and ice . |

Indeed, ensure rooted plants have lots of stringy roots to prevent uprooting. Picture kinda dark.. But afterall the setup is simple and nice. Be prepared of the possible size ur fish can grow up to and if it will affect the plants.

Here's a brighter pic . One of the plants uprooted at the back, gonan have to replant that
There are some tetras in the tank now to help speed up the cycling process. Tank has been running about 2 weeks already, tetras added yesterday. Funny, my SH doesnt harm the tetras... |

Nice setup. You may want to cover the back with a board to "bounce" back the light so as to maximize light in water and minimize light refracting out of tank. it helps to reflect lights to plants behind the wood.
Any CO2? Anw, my personal preference for this tank would be a thick hairgrass/e tenullus carpet. Then its gonna be more natural. |
