do plat gators do well in a white tank? I heard from a lfs boss that plat gators if kept in white tank, the spots will appear so they are best kept in black tanks. I am a bit sceptical because I think if its a top grade plat gator, it should remain spotless regardless of white or black tank. any plat gator owners can attest to this?

TO My Knowledge, top grade do not show even if its in white tank. Also age n size plays a part

My plati gator doesnt have any spots, no blemish at all. Doesn't matter white or black tank. Grade A spotless will remain spotless. These gars if there are spots on the tail, value drops alot. If you are going to pay top dollar for a clean piece , my suggestion is don't compromise. Market value for these are extremely good in Japan and China. Odds for spotless gars are about one in 30,000

There is 1 piece currently at display at BKK Chatuchat market fish shop. The pure white fish was purchased at a very high price.. but lately black spots started to form at the edge of its tail. That fish currently about 2 feet. The price drop a lot after that I would guess.

I believe there's no gurantee for platinum will not have spot later.. Grade A, B, C, D is what people presume or predict it will turn out much later.. It may be alot of factor, genes and or water condition..
