The beast from the East..

Roger East will take charge of Liverpool’s clash with Burnley on Saturday.

In his last two Liverpool games he gave a red card to Brad Smith in a defeat to Swansea and a penalty to Southampton in the 3-2 turnaround at St Mary’s..

The game before that? An FA Cup defeat to West Ham.

Default Reds confident Mohamed Salah will be fit to face Sevilla

Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Liverpool are confident Mohamed Salah will be fit to face Sevilla on Wednesday evening.

The No.11 was sent home from Melwood on Tuesday afternoon as a precaution due to illness, but is expected to be available*to take part in the Champions League clash.

Klopp told his pre-match media briefing at Anfield: “Most of them are looking really good apart from Clyney and Adam.

“Mo, we sent him home tonight, that’s right. He was in; Mo said he can train, the doc said he could train. But then I asked the doc what would be best for him and he said [it would be] if he doesn’t have to train because he has a little bit of a sore throat.

“It should not be that serious, so we sent him home so he cannot spread the virus, if it is a virus.

“In this moment we expect him back tomorrow morning for normal training.”

Default Loris Karius set to start against Sevilla

Loris Karius is set to start Liverpool's Champions League clash with Sevilla on Wednesday night.

Having progressed through the play-offs by beating Hoffenheim, the Reds kick off their Group E campaign on home soil by hosting the La Liga side.

And, at his pre-match news conference, Jürgen Klopp confirmed that – as it stands – the German goalkeeper will be between the posts for the tie at Anfield.

“What I can say is, if nothing happens overnight, Loris Karius will play tomorrow – that’s true,” the manager said when asked if the stopper will feature in Champions League games this season.

Default Klopp on Coutinho involvement in Sevilla clash

Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that Philippe Coutinho is 'fit and healthy' ahead of Liverpool's first Champions League group game of the season against Sevilla.

But the Reds boss stopped short of stating whether or not the Brazilian will be involved in his squad to face Eduardo Berizzo's men at Anfield tomorrow.

Coutinho recently returned to first-team training after missing the start of the campaign with a back injury and illness.

When asked if his No.10 might feature when Sevilla visit Merseyside on Wednesday evening, Klopp told reporters: "I could [give you an idea], but I'm sure all the Liverpool supporters around the world are ready to wait another 24 hours.

"He is fit, he is healthy. All other information about the line-up, I think, you have to wait until tomorrow.

"He is here [with] no [fitness issue]."

Default Pre-Sevilla stats: Reds closing in on Anfield landmark

Liverpool head into their Champions League meeting with Sevilla nearing an Anfield milestone in European competition.

Here, with the help of club statistician Ged Rea, we reveal what landmark the Reds are closing in on,*along with seven other key pre-match facts...

Liverpool need two goals to record 200 in the European Cup/Champions League at Anfield.

The Reds have won the last four opening games of a Champions League group stage when they have been at home, losing only one in six in total (to Barcelona in 2001-02).

Jürgen Klopp has won his last five home games against Spanish opponents in Europe, with the most recent of those victories coming against Villarreal in the 2015-16 Europa League semi-final second leg.

Klopp has lost just two of his 15 European matches as Liverpool manager.

The Reds have met Sevilla only once before in European competition - the 2015-16 Europa League final, which the Spanish club won 3-1.

Daniel Sturridge scored Liverpool's goal in that game. The striker*is still awaiting the first Champions League appearance of his Reds career, with all 10 of his previous European matches for the club coming in the Europa League.

Roberto Firmino's goal against Hoffenheim in last month's Champions League play-off win was the 400th scored by Liverpool at Anfield in European competition.

Alberto Moreno played 62 times for Sevilla before joining Liverpool in 2014.
