Agree. For those that work in industry should know this term call "Fire fighting mode". Our MRT is in the current mode, because of the foundation and layout done by the predecessor is no good. Poor quality or work, unreliable system.....not sure what is it. To fix the problem need a full revamp and a overhaul of the system, and that certainly not easy and takes time. Needs really a gutsy leader to make this change.

CEO handpicked from the military or other governmental ministries can qualify to be a gutsy leader?

Trouble is they have no pro active plan to resolve.
They are just re-acting when there are issues.

For instance,
I would get a list of the BOM ( Bill of Materials ) ie every single component of the system and comb thru very thouroughly. Eg if insulations are at end of life, pumps need overhaul ... etc every single item

Relook the tender with SMRT, probably under the tender SMRT scope is limited and doing extra will cost $$ which of course they dont want to spend.

Re-assign some resources by creating a taskforce from organistions like DSTA, DSO etc to assist. like they did for the faulty train.

Tender for consultants and maintenance team. Clearly SMRT cant or wont do it.

Plan to replace each and every part that nearing end of life. whole system if necessary.

We need people who can plan ahead and can get the $$ from PMO or MOF to do it.

This bunch useless.

Previously mrt company are listed and delisted. Why they are making money but need the PMO or MOF to pay for maintainence ? Is this a way to make the listed company look profitable at the expenses of the public ?

I think its better be fully own and operated by 1 party. U make the money u make sure everything in order. Now LTA own the rail n maintainence and SMRT operate the train ?

Think best the train fully own and operated by the gov soley or LTA or Smrt. Any issue u look for 1 party easier rather each one taichi here and there.... never ending and problem not resolved.

Heard of "the best man always get the toughest job" ? I dont see him running away fm the problem and that is good. Hope he can push it thru
.
I like "the best man always get the toughest job" sentence. Any way to change toughest job to shit job?

It's the management who always send the best man to clear the job that others can't settle. And the best man is always the 1 who pick up new technical skills while the others dun learn and relay on this best man. Once the best man goes, the others have half F skills.

Hope to see more site hands on for those engineers as troubleshooting comes with hands on and not looking at reports. U dun understand how it was found out in the reports as an engineer, i dun reveal, are not good at words description.

SMRT was formerly a Stat Board.... corporatised (spell). Left pocket to right pocket kinda thing. Public services but... oh well....

Our MRT are expanding with more and more lines coming up, sometime I see the map also get confuse, like spider web. Unlike last time where there is only a single line spanning across Sg, now there are loops and sub loops...the expertise to handle such a massive system got to be up to it. The problems come up of different nature, signal, power trip, weather.....even we engaged some overseas experts or consultant will not be overnight success. Probably as some one suggested, gov should take over to run the business and come out with a long term success plan, including those new lines coming up to ensure no repeat of earlier mistake.
