Downtown Line 3 open house marred by train service disruption
Sunday’s (15 October) open house event for the new Downtown Line 3 (DTL3) went slightly off track due to a “train fault” that led to services being disrupted.
At around 12.30pm, a track fault was announced in trains and commuters were requested to disembark at the Ubi station, said media reports. SBS Transit, which runs the Downtown Line, said in a Facebook post at 1.05pm that there would be “no train service between DT1 Bukit Panjang and DT5 Beauty World Stations” due to a “train fault”. Free bus rides were made available at designated bus stops near the affected stations. A subsequent update posted by SBS Transit at 1.21pm said that normal train services had resumed, including those on the DTL3 stretch of stations. Reports said the 45-minute disruption in train services originated from a train fault at Hillview station, which led to trains being put on hold down the line. As part of Sunday’s DTL3 open house, members of the public could enjoy free train rides from 10am to 6pm to explore the 16 new Downtown Line stations – which extend from Fort Canning to Expo. The DTL3 will officially be opened on 21 October and its launch will be marked with two days of free travel for commuters =================== It is an embarrassment. |

Not lah.
Part and parcel. All come in a package. They are very kind to prepare the commuters for DTL3. Still can let them walk in the tunnel leh.....to enjoy the view of the newly minted structures at it cleaness. |

I was at the new Jalan Besar Station during that time and both direction stop for 15 mins. As usual no annoucement.
Overall all stations are well. Only setback is the train inside indicators are not as good as EW line. Even the this side door opening light also light up when the train almost stopping. One thing good is that this line replaces a lot of those long bus route that I usually take and the new Tampines East station is just 5mins walk from my hse. |

Anyway expecting the fares to be much higher compared to EW line. Also if the escalator not in service, jialat for those leg pain like me. All very deep in, even have to take a few escalators to reach the train platform.

For new lines, the tunnels would have to be deeper than the older ones.......else how to cross over ?? Have more escalators are fine......but not more train breakdowns please.......

Yesterday i tried out only around 5 pm. By then no more disruptions
The trains are smaller. I hope by this wkend there wun be any problem. It is new line. From so many yrs of train experience teething problems should not happen lah. |
