Default Jürgen Klopp discusses Philippe Coutinho’s return

Jürgen Klopp is looking forward to welcoming Philippe Coutinho back into his squad after the No.10’s return to full training.

Coutinho missed Liverpool’s opening five games of the season due to a back injury, but made two substitute appearances for Brazil during the recent international break and rejoined team training at Melwood last Thursday.

Klopp opted against including the 25-year-old in his travelling party for Saturday’s defeat at Manchester City and, speaking after the game, explained the reasoning behind that call.

Meanwhile, the boss also confirmed that Coutinho is in contention for Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Sevilla at Anfield.

“It was a decision made with the season in mind. He came back from a long flight, after two substitute appearances and three weeks without training,” Klopp said.

“We play on Wednesday, we play on Saturday, we play, play, play, play, play. I will have the situation all the time now over the next three or four weeks.

“We thought it best to give him three or four days proper training and then he'll be available for us, which is very good news.

“Phil is a fantastic player, and hopefully we can use him as quickly as possible.”

Mane and Alexander-Arnold up for awards

The 10th annual NorthWest Football Awards are coming soon, and the shortlists have been announced.

Sadio Mane is nominated in the Premier League Player of the Year category, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is named in the ‘Rising Star’ section.

Mane will be up against Tom Heaton, Tom Davies, David Silva and Ander Herrera.

Trent, meanwhile, will compete with the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Phil Foden and Angel Gomes.

Good luck boys.

This is how much Liverpool miss Mane

We all know how much Liverpool miss Sadio Mane.

But these stats from Oulala.com back up how much the Reds improve with the Senegal winger in the team.

Oulala.com report: “With Mane in the side, Liverpool have enjoyed an impressive win rate of 61 per cent in the Premier League. This takes a significant drop to just 44 per cent without him. While their loss rate rise from just 13 cent with him to 27 per cent without him.

The Reds also score far more goals per game with Mane. In his 31 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, they have scored an average of 2.23 goals per game. This falls to just 1.55 per game in the 11 matches he has missed.

“While overall, Liverpool pick up an average of 2.10 points per game when he plays. In contrast, they have registered just 1.64 points per game without him.”

With Mane likely to be banned for three domestic games, he will miss the home match with Burnley, away trip to Leicester and the Caraboa Cup trip to the King Power.
