Default Eyes of the RAYs

Good morning.

Just realised that rays have protruded and non protruded eyes.
Recently i have 2 batches of such pups without protruded eyes.
1 batch from new Bd mother and another from an existing PDR mum.

The pure bd pup from new bd mother is very obvious.
The bdleo pups from existing mother is not so.
Not sure any brothers here also noticed this?

Due to my poor IT skill, i am not able to download the pictures here. I have compressed them to emailing size and succesfully downloaded them to my album. Perhaps some brothers can help.

I am not sure is this a birth defect or is normal?
Hopefully some brothers can enlighten me on this issue.

Regards

Thank you Mr Poh
Yes, only the last piece is BD and this piece has obvious non protrude eyes. The rest are Bdleos. Check Yahoo website also cannot find such topic. Sorry using Iphone camera.

Bro, if the last pics is the so call non protruding eyes than my say will be genetic disorder. Anyway the pics is not clear. It's better to take the pics on the same eye level with the rays.

Thanks for sharing. Interesting find. None or not so protruding eyes...are they supposed to be built this way?

As I understand when rays sensed danger, their general instinct is to burrow themselves into the sand leaving the protruding eyes to observe the surrounding.

the last pcs is a water bloat ray,....thats why the eye looks not protruded

alot of them got it at birth due to one or more pups may have died even before birth inside mama tummy causing the rest of the pups to be toxicated,...

but sometimes adult do get it too due to poor water quality,...

not easy to save I call it liver failure
