If KPI is set fairly and agreed on. As long as it can be track accurately and objectively and if target are met, I feel that the managers should not micro manage.

had a mental note to myself, never hire women of breedable age or have young children anymore
My Coy aso hs something similar, there are always the same ppl whose MCs always not enough, exceeding the mc limits were norm for these group of ppl, my take was that mc wasn't the matter, the matter was not having to come to work, cos they always come back like nothing happen, best was that medication always nowhere to be found.

I don see any problem when ur staff using max of her leave and child care leave, she is entitled to it anyway.. the company gv this as benefit then shld granted and not take tis as one of the point when doing the appraisal..
And for the medical claim amt, it is set as TS say and anything exceed have to be paid by staff themselves, tis also cannot be the point if the staff really sick and use it to pay for the medical..
However the Off, Mmm.. tis then abit jiak lat liao..but tot off day normally need boss to approve? Just don approve lo..

Maximise using AL, Off, child care leave etc is normal which should NOT be frown upon.

But max. use MC, hospitalization leave only shows that you have a poor health employee and it is worth understanding the situation.

Performance measurement should be not judged on such issues (zero MC means good score?!?) unless it affect the performance and results itself.

I think so. If the employee is paid well, they will treasure the job and work hard. But on the other hand, if pay is no good, exploitation of the system to maximise benefits is likely.

Very right.
Exploitation of the Coy system is quite norm.
As for the well paid job, our super well paid MIWs are too "working very Hard" to keep their jobs

If it is still up to your standard, you can do PIP - Performance improvement plan. This is like probation period of 3mths.

You have to sit down and talk to her. After the session, give a written copy to acknowledge the area of work need to be improved. Do a 1st & 3rd mth review. By 3rd mth review, termination can be done if she is still shortfall of your expectation. you can pay her termination notice but it must be justify or you go MOM drink kopi

another method

After her maternity, serve her notice of termination base on re-organization with payment of termination notice period, annual leave balance and maternity leave balance....
