aros = carnivores. are their digestive tract able to handle a veggie diet, or extract the carotene beta from carrots or hydrolyse astaxanthin in salmon?

even if yes, ultimately how helpful is food in enhancing the redness of an aro? all the truely red aros i've seen have never been fed carrots or salmon. apart from genes, maturity and tanning i honestly dont think food plays that much of a role. maybe in cichilds or other fish, but i've yet to see a aro that changed it's colour drastically solely based on the food it eats. on that topic, ppl also say if u feed mp to BDs their spots will turn yellowish...or pure mp diet for red aros to turn red... but why doesnt it happen to everyone?

not trying to say type of food fed isnt important, varied diet is always good, but i do want to know how effective carrots/salmon can be rather than just doing it coz they contain carotene/astaxanthin. from my point of view it's not worth the trouble compared to feeding mp or krill (way higher astaxanthin than salmon anyway).

very interested to know how effective feeding salmon n carrots are, pls update pics as ur red grows
