FYI to everyone: pH is the measurement of hydrogen ions in the liquid/medium. The range of pH varies from 0.0 to 14.0 with 7.0 being neutral. Anything lesser than 7.0 is considered acidic and anything more than 7.0 is alkaline. Arowanas prefer slightly acidic water (like most other tropical fishes) so it's preferable to keep the pH range of your water between 6.0 to 7.0. Also note that each 1.0 point change in pH (e.g. from 7.0 to 6.0) is 10 times more acidic. A drop of pH from 7.0 to 5.0 means that it's 100 times more acidic than before! |
