skimmer recommendation?

Hi all, im using a canister filter as my tank does not come with sump.
Its a 2.5ft tank with cover. im using the boyu small skimmer which is like almost useless for a big tank

I would like to seek your recommendation for a suitable skimmer. I saw some air pump skimmer, cck farm selling black box(which includes overflow filter and skimmer), bigger skimmer at expensive price..

I hope to get it below 100 if possible. Any skimmers u guys have been using and would recommend under that budget?

If its.200, would it be better if i get blackbox?

CCK farm are u referring to Jiren marine... that filter cum skimmer doesnt work really that well

Agreed that the skimmer from Jireh is not rather inadequate. Many bad reviews on this skimmer too in another marine forum. At the same time u may refer to Sg Reef forum for 2nd hand skimmer on sale there. Many good skimmers on sale all the time.

Bubble Magus BMQQ is good, but u may have to take off your tank cover. It should cost $73 which is within your budget. Those airpump skimmer is useless.

Yes, you can try bubble magus QQ or BM NAC 3.5, both are good skimmers that I have been using for a while now.

My first skimmer was also the Boyu one too, found it to be useless after seeing what my skimmers churned out

Thanks for recommendation! Will take a look at those.. Preferably no need to remove cover due to my lights, and my tank got ledge to support the cover, so its not easy for hang on.. I know its troublesome..

bm nac 3.5 is in sump. cannot use in tank water level too high. microbubbles got a lot but very good and efficient. all from personal experience
