Bro very nice set up you have there, i think for a sump with a limited size return compartment it would be possible to remove the pump from the plastic case and adapt a suction cover so no big items are pulled into the impeller.

Hasnt missed a beat but the only draw back is that it's pretty bulky so you will need a pretty large return section in the sump.

I think best to explain the intended use for the pump or pumps you require, and what type of filter system you are using or intend to use.

Bro it all depends on your present pipe size for the return and also the feed to the sump. If you have only one return pipe then you will need to go with one pump. For the pump to be effective you need to match the required outlet hose size. If you have a high volume of water being sent to your tank, and the outlet to the sump is only a small bore pipe, the overflow compartment will not be able to handle the high volume of water being sent to the tank. Best to confirm with a tank supplier to ensure the pump is suited to the pipe work.

It is a new tank boss, so the water vol. input to the sump tank 6x2x2 and outlet vol. to main tank is 8x3x3 is not designed yet but assuming that the it is feasible....

This is how i have done my 7' x 2.5' x 2.5' with 5' x 24" x 20" sump.

1. My overflow is in the middle of the tank, this leaves both ends of the tank full size.
3. I have three outlets for the return, using eheim hose.
4. I am using two Eheim 1262 pumps, i had holes drilled in the rear of the tank about 1ft from each end, the only plastic pipe used is the connector at the rear, the rest is Eheim hose.

It is best you talk with the tank man and let him know what your plans are for the size of pump or pumps you intend to use. If the electric bill is not an issue i would go for two return pumps, using two return pipes.
