Question black diamonds: do they morph at a younger age?

Here is one of the pups I've bred which is now with daland.

The first picture was taken when it was about 4.5 inches.

The second picture taken by daland shows the same ray at about 8 inches.

Notice the "glitter" in between the bigger spots? The spottings at the rims have also intensified.

I used to think that BDs morph when they are a bit older and larger, like my female, but this young male has certainly changed my thinking.

Any comments? Experiences you'd like to share?

Superb specimen. The white dots have spread evenly toward the rim.
