Google it Bro.

But imho, only comes into play if you don't wc to remove the allelopathic substances.

i tried water lettuce allelopathy before. did not really work. i guess will need to have a number of it that will block out all the light to see the full effect. duck weeds and frogbits i also tried.

Bro, mind elaborate how it did not succeed? Algae still grew or did the rest of the plant population die off as well?

Shared with me by a bro whom have tried and successfully reduce bba naturally and therrafter rebalancing, he tried overpowering.... lots and lots of co2. And lights. Nuitrients etc. Let the plants boom... 2 weeks in he said he saw a huge reduction in bba. Than from there easier to control and get rid..

I see that non of u mention about using kissing gourami as a algae removing agent. They are cheap and effective tools in removing green or brown algae stuck on glass or leaves of plants. It is also a nice aquarium fish to keep.

As for bba, I have yet to know how to effectively remove them completely.

They also grow big and fast, not very practical if most of our planted tanks are small. Their feeding method also has a tendency to destroy plants and scapes, etc.

If its a BBA issue, its always not enough CO2 or too much light. I suggest, you keep it 8 hours of lights but lower your light amount to less than 2 wpg lower of 2 wpg. Keep your CO2 as high as possible. It takes while for the effect to come into play so you need to be patient. Additional, those plants infested with BBA should be removed, others, you can spray (use syringe) with hydrogen peroxide directed at it. Do it when you are doing water change (just before you fill up.) Leave for 5 mins. Just nice while you clean your filter.

Hope this helps.

bba can also mean that the infected area is a dead spot
