New House Water Problem
Hi all,
Since moving into my new house I have been suffering heavy casualties from my tank. The tank is well cycled and heavily packed with media. The problem here is whenever i perform WC 20% I will definitely suffer some death. My WC regime is water passes through a 3 stage prefilter from Bro Gerrard. Slight over dose of Seachem Safe. And new water into the tank at a very slow rate. Symptom my fishes suffer is heavy breathing and my rays will go into crazy mode flying around then died. Please advise. |

Bro, smell the incoming water, see if gt any weird smell anot. Likely not due to chlorine issue after the 3 stage system and even with overdose of seachem conditional
Was at my new place for the past 1 week to check for defects, I can smell strong weird chemical smell from the water.. even aft using the water to wash my hands, my hands all filled with the smell.. you might wan to feedback tis issue to hdb or ur building management.. likely is frm the new water tank or pipes. probably some chemicals used for the pipes still reside in the pipes
when we install pvc pipes using glue to secure, we will let water run for awhile before using it for fishes. |

maybe wat u can do is age the water first. den use some feeders or TFB and test see if its ok before adding into the main tank
it will take awhile for the chemical or glue if any to get 'washed' out |

You can try getting a RO filter to filter the water before topping up the tanks. Long term wise, RO water is better for fishes.

Bro where u stayed at?
It happen to me before best is to do small water change for the time being like 5% per week less feeding. Try to check ur tap water chlorine and PH. What i observe the chlorine level is high and PH is around 8.7 Best to overdose the chlorine and aged the water to be on the safe side. |
