My neighbor went for a 3 weeks holiday and didn't feed his 14" Red Aro during that period, when he came back, his Aro was eating like nobody business, IMHO shouldn't be a problem but than again opinions might differ with regards to this as its still a young Aro and starvation ain't good for it.

Most importantly majority of hobbyist fear power trip more than their Aro not eating when they're not around.

Very true. Lucky for us, this does not happen often though, but if it does when the whole family is overseas, it could be disastrous!

Single aro in 4' should be ok even with no power, don't worry too much : enjoy your holiday

if kiasoo, can get UPS( uniterrupted power supply ), I got APC UPS for my tanks which has 4-8 hours power backup.

In nature, aro has variety of prey : it's good to have variety in our feeding.
Secondly, there will be foodless days in the wild : good to skip 1 meal or fast 1 day once a week.

MP is my staple, bf & sw are my alternates for 3-8 feedings per week.
I like to overfeed on day before WC, after wc I skip 1 feeding (usually twice daily)

Salt is not required in aro tank, they will be able to tolerate it, but it is really not necessary unless the tank filtration is inadequate or it is a new tank.
Otherwise, IMO, salt should only be used for medicinal purposes for aros.

So it is not advisable to leave the light on through the night? I leave my light now on as my aro is still quite small and new to the tank(2 months). I encounter already twice that in the morning when i wake up i saw one or two piece of scale at the bottom of tank. I believe the aro had maybe knock the tank as it get panic in the dark.
