I asked these questions during the session: 1. Will the product clog the fish's gills? I was referring to flocculating agents such as "Clarity" where the action was to bind impurities and some of these go into the gills. See thread Post 46 on dangers of flocculants. 2. Gh increase - the extent? I think go slow on the use of this product until a clearer response is forthcoming, maybe from a reliable source. It's better to underdose IMO, and if by underdosing you get crystal clear water, it's the way to go. So far, my water remains crystal clear. I think we should also get rid of the clay at the bottom. |

i've used all my bioearth that i've bought.
no adverse effects on my fishes( tigers, endie, aro,FF) just that there is sometimes a white layer over my Endie's slime. but my endies cld not be too bothered by it. i think this clay works by trapping ions thru complex-formation... when the complex precipitates it is removed by the mechanical filter. but one funny thing is that i dont see any white particles after like 3 days on my OHF wool.... but nonetheless these product really makes my fish more active. now w/o the product, whenever i change water( direct tap change + prime and genesis conditoner) my fish will seem abit less lively... but when i was using bioearth... prior to adding in the tap water, i'd place probably 3-4 times the rec amount in a jug and stir it before poouring it into the main tank, and let it mix with the remaining tank water... fish was very lively... swimming around and even fighting. however this is not a quantative measure, thus it would not be a reliable measure of the 'usefulness' of bioearth. |
