Jurgen Klopp's Comments About Paul Pogba's £89 Million Transfer To Manchester United
Jurgen Klopp's comments from when Paul Pogba re-joined Manchester United for a then world-record £89 million fee are doing the rounds again.
It comes after reports that the Liverpool boss has tabled a £62 million bid for Roma and Brazil shotstopper Alisson in what looks set to be a world-record deal for a goalkeeper. When Pogba signed for big bucks, Klopp was highly critical of the transfer fee paid and said he'd call it a day. He also made a point of saying that he longs to do things differently. "If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney. The day that this is football, I'm not in a job anymore, because the game is about playing together. "That is how everybody in football understands it. You always want to have the best, but building the group is necessary to be successful. "Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money." Yet after forking out £75 million (a world record for a defender) on Virgil van Dijk and now looking to strengthen the spine of his side further with Alisson for £62 million, Klopp has been made to look a little silly. But while Klopp is well within his rights to spend big because of the way the market is, he might regret what he said two years back. Last edited by lenghan; 18-07-2018 at 10:15 PM. |
