Default Choice of soil for a planted set up

Dear friends, I've just recently entered into the planted scene so I'll need some help.

I've recently scaped my tank with some plants using the DSM, however I've used the Ruby brand soil which has zero ammonia (meant for shrimps, to simply bring PH down).

Does this mean my plants will not be able to thrive with this soil as it lacks the necessary nutrients? Will it help if i spray the plants daily with liquid ferts then? Or should I go and get some base ferts to dose the existing soil and add a subsequent layer above?

Appreciate any inputs! Thanks in advance bros

For a planted tank, if you are thinking of a long term interest go get a proper soil macam Ada soil and some soil enhancer. If you were to use shrimp soil for a planted tank it doesn't mean that plants won't grow well but there will be more maintenance for you to handle. And for a planted tank to mature fully it will take ard 9 months of prepping anxious regular dosing of fert. Etc cAno3, kno3 etc. Sorry my brain abit rusting abt their exact names but if you wish I can find out for you.

Noted bro
Already double checked with the people at SunPets.
I'm running a low maintence tank, only dosing liquid CO2 daily.
Still new to this.... The idea of getting a CO2 kit is very tempting but I know the plants will be awesome looking with it.

Tempting tempting.....

I am planng to convert 522 into planted too. Is co2 really necessary if there are not too many plants?

From my knowledge (which is very limited on planted tanks), that depends on the length and intensity of your lighting. And also, I guess if you really want that lush and green look, there's really no way around using CO2.

But of course if you're just going for low tech plants like nanas and java ferns, then I'll save the money
