u nid gravels, plants, fauna, lights. u may even need a new filter as OHF is real bad for planted tanks.

OHF will cause CO2 escape due to water surface agitation

Plants - flora.

Fauna - fish/livestocks.

Never use undergrave filter before, but I think it may cause issue to the plant roots. You should use canister/external filter instead.

undergravel filter is bad coz it agitates the base fert. recycling it to the water which is bad. use internal filter or best cannister, coz the internal powerhead generates heat which may not provide optimum temp for plant growth. get fan if u want. CO2 is impt for good plant growth. fert also can get lushgro. read http://www.aquatic-plants.org/articl...ges/index.html

ok. after abit of reading up. it seems like ALOT of trouble and even more $$$. so. im thinking of the following set up. not really a planted tank.. more like a fish tank w/plants.

2x1.5x1 ft tank
1 inch of gravel, maybe a little moss/grass
1 nice big bogwood/driftwood
lots neon tetras.

still using OHF, probably ceremic or glass rings,

submersive light, no CO2 etc

will it work?

thx for you advice guys.
