This is the first time i'm seeing other people using tiles to create such a background until i come upon this thread. Brilliant indeed. I wonder how did you managed to stack all the pieces together, wouldn't they collapse if someone were to knock against your tank?

From the looks of it, the tiles are actually inside the tank right? My deduction is that you've placed them in specific locations so that they push against each other so the "tightness" is actually the force holding them in place. Correct me if i'm wrong. Really background.

theres no science to it. yes the tiles are on the inside and they are held to the back of the tank by silicon headache part is to try to fit the pieces together like a jigsaw.for some i even needed to stick 1 layer of the slate (2-3mm thick)behind before sticking the bigger piece infront. n i added black oyama at the back so the silicon wouldnt be so obvious. there are crevaces between the pieces so shrimp or stuff might be stuck there.
thanks for all your kind comments! will update this thread when the moss starts growing.

Duckweed is a good addition for the first few weeks then you can remove them and add frogbits if you like. Like what Jon-san mention. Will help reduce the excess nutrients in the new setup. Doing weekly water change will promote moss growth. Depending on the moss if it is Christmas the tempt might need to be abt 25-28 degrees.c to grow lushly. Just my 2 cents
