Buy liao lah.

You can take apart the entire Dyamx unit, throw away the ballasts (hopeless units, only covered in rubber, no casing at all!!), the wires (no earth) and the tubes (too dim). Just keep the fitting and the end caps.

Then get an Elbiru e-ballast (easily available in S'pore) which drives 2 HO-T5 tubes and the 2 HO-T5 tubes themselves. For corals, you can go for both 20,000K tubes. For FO, 1 20000K and 1 actinic blue will be fine.

DIYing this is easy and the connections to the ballast is also real easy, since each ballast drives 2 HO-T5s.

Well for any modification to T5 and T5 eballast for 39W or T8 or PL36W PL55W .... it all possible. Feel free to contact me for your problem in lighting.

how big is the elbiru 39w eballast? can it still fit in the casing if use 3ft T5 in a 3ft casing?

The Dymax Casing can't accommodate the elbiru ballast as I understand due to the slim look of the Dymax.

There shouldn't be any problem if you just swop the Dymax 30W T5 tube with another T5 HO 39W. It will works since e-ballast is already there.

Of course it will work (light up). The question is for how long? If you're paying good money for the HO-T5s, you would want to make them last as long as possible, and get the optimum output from them. You can only do this if you use ballasts that are rated and designed for them.

And don't forget that D***x has some reputation of burning in S'pore. Ask around, you'll find this out.
