Sorry to ask bcoz you mentioned they are kept in the cupboard. Unless they are kept in the fridge, I will immediately want to get some from you.

you are one big particular fussy dude indeed.

do you keep your sinking pallets in your fridge? lfs also keep them on shelves and there isn't aircon in almost every lfs, moreover every box is sealed. if you have read some links other brothers shared, nls products last for years and there isnt expiry, if you are so particular about the date of purchase, its last year.

if you want brand new stock, get it from polyart, thou they do not have cichlid formulae, other similar ones like large fish, thera-a suits most fishes too.

have you tried to break up the pieces and see if you can feel any difference? it could be older stock or moisture perhaps if seal is broken, but most of the time its probably different batches of productions i think.

also for your small culvus, would be good if you let them take growth formulae.

I have not tried to break them up in pieces yet. Surely my cichlids love the lighter colour ones.

Today I went to LFS....to my surprise all the range of NLS pellets are like mine..mixed with light coloured pellets.
