Sunfish
Found this piece retailing for $29 at a local lfs..very intense red on the body...it looks like a cichlid to me...
Can anyone ID it? |

Looks like jewel cichlid hemichromis bimaculatus. The tail bone is funny. Any close up pix of the tail portion?

Sorry...not jewel cichlid. It is a Dollar Sunfish Lepomis marginatus

Yah its a sunfish... Vv nice fish though but so far the specimens i saw on sale are not in best conditions... Saw a pc of vv stunning one years back... But the price has become more affordable as compared to the past

its a very nice specimen..
one of the more interesting features are the "ear" like markings it has.. |
