Default Sunfish

Found this piece retailing for $29 at a local lfs..very intense red on the body...it looks like a cichlid to me...

Can anyone ID it?

Looks like jewel cichlid hemichromis bimaculatus. The tail bone is funny. Any close up pix of the tail portion?

As in red jewel bro? If it is, then i dun think its the red jewel...kept em before..they are rather longish....but this pievce looks round....

sorry i do not have the pics of the tail part bro....this was the best i could manage using my HP.

Sorry...not jewel cichlid. It is a Dollar Sunfish Lepomis marginatus

Very aggressive North America native fish. Does well better in cool water.

Yah its a sunfish... Vv nice fish though but so far the specimens i saw on sale are not in best conditions... Saw a pc of vv stunning one years back... But the price has become more affordable as compared to the past

its a very nice specimen..
one of the more interesting features are the "ear" like markings it has..
