imho, for 200, it's not worth it as it can only cool tank ard 1.5ft in size.
also need to factor in the electrical cost n piping, pump/canister required. for such a small tank, use fans n be dilligent with the top up. i'd rather use the money and get a auto water topup system. remember, most small tanks with FL/PL/T5 lights do not really heat up to the extent that fans cannot help to bring water temp down. |

Just out of curiosity, on a very hot day where ambient temp can reach 34 or 35 degrees how much will fan be able to cool the temp of a 2ft tank. |

CRS will be "cooked" at that temp unless you have a chiller right?? So if you intend to keep CRS, investing $200 on a chiller is still recommended right? Unless there are other ways to bring down the temp to a comfortable 27 degrees on the hottest of days..... |

I believed that in a house, the usual temp. may not be up to 34 or 35 deg. C unless it's without a roof!
I've tried to measure the temp. using a temp. sensor, and I find that certain part of the house the temp. varies not more than 29 deg. C and certain part of it (though onli about 3 feet away); varies from 29 deg. C to 32 deg. C. So it's best to measure the temp. in the various part of the house and choose a cooler part to place your tank. Even if you have an efficient chiller, it will still save you the running cost. Juz my thought. |

hard to imagine anyone's house with amb temps of 34-35.... unless living in a attap house ... j/k
since most of us stay in apts (hdb or private), it's rather easy to have good air circulation ard the house that'll prevent the temps from getting that high. can also use curtains to block out sunlight n heat. i stay on the ground floor with a 6ft tank in the living room blasting 450W of mh with all windows n doors closed. i'm was able to keep my 24G marine tank with 144wPL in the study at ard 28C using fans. now using a resun cl450 for the 24G cos changed to 150W mh |

Cannot lah, my shrimp tank in my balcony. No air-con. Currently with fan on 24hrs, my temp range is from 25 to 27 degrees. Hot months not here yet so not sure whether will exceed 28 degrees or not. |

Near balcony!? If get even abit direct sunlight confirm will reach 28 & beyond in the hotter months to come. My advise is to "shelter" (big piece of cardboard will do) your tank during the hot months.
