DIY in tank WTT Version 2.0
Hi all.. i have previously tried an in tank WTT "tank" using a small 2ft white tub.. felt that its kinda small and cannot do WTT for a long enough duration.. finally have time to go buy materials and completed my DIY in tank WTT Version 2.0.. actually wanted to get a white fgt or 3ft tank set.. but due to financial and space constrains and transportation issues had no choice but to make this.. total cost is $33 for this set up.. "tank" dimensions is 3ft x 2ft x 1.5ft..
things you will need: 6 x white corrugated board 8 x pvc 3 way elbows 12 x pvc pipes of 3 different lengths (4 of each length) 16 x cable tie (u can use more if u want but i feel 16 is enough) here are some pics.. "tank" structure made by the pvc pipes: "tank" competed after adding the corrugated boards: "tank" in tank shot: i have a 1000L/hr pump constantly pumping water into the white "tank" and there are small gaps in the "tank" at the sides to allow waste to escape and allow for constant exchange of water.. this will allow the "tank" to share the same water as the main tank and thus despite only being a 3x2x1.5 this "tank" has a water volume of almost 600L.. the key to making a sturdy and tight "tank" is to not tighten the cable ties which secure the boards to the frame too tightly first.. slowly tighten around after all the boards are in place it so that it will be more balanced and secure.. try to tighten at the edges of the boards and use 1 cable tie for secure 2 boards perpendicular to 1 pvc pipe for a more secure structure.. as the pvc pipes are air tight this tank actually floats therefore no need to add additional things to let the tank float.. it will keep itself in place on the main tank's bracing and glass covers.. vid of the setup:
hope u guys like it.. any questions feel free to ask or pm me.. |

Thanks for the kind comments.. this setup is good for ppl who have space constraints.. or people who wanna do wtt but cant change main tank oyama.. another good thing is it shares the same filtration system as your main tank..
