Perhaps because they're naturally suited to bad water conditions, so giving them excessively good conditions can have some weird side effects? How you tell the difference btw clarkii and holthuisi? I thought the cherax species all have fatter claws than the procambarus species? |

Baby Red Clarkii Crayfish
Yo Bro,
My 3" Red Clarkii who is now the proud mummy of 45 babies. Just to share. Video resolution best view at 320x240 or smaller. Sorry for the poor quality, taken using my mobile phone. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...12046547&hl=en Look carefully and you can see all the babies clinging onto the mummy. Throughout the berry stage till the baby appears, the mummy and daddy are together in the same tank all the time. Now I have separated the mummy with the babies in a separate tank. I use ceramic rings for all the babies to hide. Till today even at 1cm the babies will still hop onto the mummy for a free ride. I find there is not a need to isolate the mummy from her babies. Oh congrats, but in time to come you might need to isolate them and seperate them in batches. Crays are known to cannibalise among themselves
