Informative thread.
The thorough explainations in the two attachments by Bro TOM32 are informations that can't be found easily. Most raykeepers used to overlook on the 2 points as below; 1. During the first 30 minutes after birth, pups are usually unstable. Initially they may be up side down and struggling to balance and swim. For me, I will usually remove my pups from birth place only after 4 hours. 2. Try not to expose pups to air during catching and transferring. Move them into a small bucket of plastic bag in the water. Try not to scoop them out of the water and exposing them to the air Thanks for sharing. |

Most of the impt pointers have been covered. Heres mine input:
1) Maintain orp reading between 300 - 350 2) pups have small mouths so remember to give them bite sized food. u may need to further cut up frozen ghost shrimp if u r feeding that 3) if possible, segregate the pups from other bigger sized rays who may harm them |

Uncle Tony's input is really helpful, will benefit all rays hobbyists & myself. Thks, for the info. Think now we realised tat we cannot move the pups when they are not on solid food yet, if not, "up the lorry v easily". This is a mistake I made & hope many others will take note to prevent further loses of precious rays life.

I would prefer a partitioned area within the same tank to maintain the water's consistency.
Extra aeration and a slightly warmer environment. A little fine rounded sand for the small rays to hide and reduce their stress should be helpful too. |
