Default My second attempt at breeding

My first time was more than ten years ago when I was still in school. Got to the stage where I got fries. Then, didn't know how to care for the fries, and they all did not go past a few days. Last month, I got a male and a female. Put them together with about 10 swordtails in a 2.5 feet tank, without the intention to breed them (yet). The next morning, a bubble nest was up, and the two were already mating. And by noon, the male had shoo-ed the female away. When the fries hatched in two days, I think there were like 30 or 40 fries. I fed them home made infusoria in the first 3 weeks, and recently some microworms. I couldn't take care of them everyday, cause they are in my hometown Malacca and I work in KL. I see them during weekends, where as my (sweet & supportive) parents help feed them (as per my instructions) when I'm not around. The last time I checked, there were more than 10 surviving fries. I estimate less than 20 remain (hard to tell as my tank is quite dense with plants now). Fries are still pretty small (almost a month now). Hope to get feedback and advise from all of u (especially those experts here). Would love to be a proper breeder one day...

welcome to the forum! you might want to add in some water fleas aka daphnia aka boon for faster growth and perhaps remove the swordtails as they will prey on the fries, good luck!

Thanks for the tip on growth. I'm not too sure where to get those water fleas here tho, but i'll look around.

I forgot to mention that I removed the swordtails and the female betta right after they have spawned (day 1), and the male after the fries are free swimming (day 5 or 6). Now the fries have the whole 2.5 feet tank to themselves. Problem is, hard for them to find the microworms, methinks.
