don't get angry lah. i do know that different parts of japan breed different kinda ranchu which differents from others.
some ranchu clubs in japan prefers and sets standards differently from others. like certain kinda headgrowth, certain kinda back shape, belly bottom, dorsal spin etc. as forum members here are interested more to the traditional and popular japanese ranchu standards(top view type)... hence, the misunderstanding. no ranchu are perfect... as the subject title you chose plus the pictures attached will certainly raise some eyebrows. but no worries, mate... as long you love the kinda ranchu you chose... it is a real form of self satisfaction already. those frozen blood worms... suggest you dissolve it in a small cup to clear away 'free' blood before putting it in your tank to reduce bacteria contamination. wait the birds becomes sick very troublesome leh.

After that, things started to get nasty, 'cause you have started to sound arrogant, you might have 12 yrs experience of keeping ranchu, there might be some members here who have even longer experience. Everybody here is learning somethings from each other everyday, nobody dares to declare that they are experts. You might be rich enough to own some "Jap" Ranchu, but this doesn't mean that you have the right to look down on people here who are trying to enjoy their hobby of ranchu keeping. My understanding is in the past, Jap ranchu are also appreciated by their side view such like those used to be imported by Macho Ranchu at Specialist Centre and Topview Jap Ranchu are kept by some exclusive hobbyist in Japan and are not allowed to be exported until recently. In the presence, all Jap ranchu are mostly appreciated by their topview just like those in All Japan Ranchu competition or our local Ozeki Ranchu Club, however, there are still Top-grade sideview Jap ranchu around but they are now considered in a lower grade than the top grade Topview ranchu. If you have information on the criteria of selecting or judging sideview Jap ranchu, do share with us and I think most of our members here will definitely like to know. |

yup. those bloodworms are treated type. but do notice blood releasing out from the cubes when place in the tank.... good source of contamination and food for parasites or germs to feed on, too. but... perhaps some salt may help to keep those thingy at bay.

For what i know, the thick back bone and the "fan" tail are very jap. And most important, thai ranchu body (view from top) is abit FAT rather than straight flash from the head compared to the Jap. Just like my fav. thai ranch(in my gallery), even with good cheek N color but the body and the back bone still CANNOT compare with Jap. sign |
