I missed my wc for 2 whole weeks as I am rushing major reports for my HQ and problem arise on the next wc where parameters went haywire . Now I rather lose some sleep to ensure wc schedule than to have 2 to 3 weeks of tiring quarantine and treatments.
25% WC every day ........ Hmm........ need to have alternative man ......

Yesterday at fish shop the owner was telling me use external CO3 remover..

hi brother, if you dont wc for 3 months most of your fishes cannot take any shock of water changes. in my humble opinion i dont suggest playing too much with water parameters and heat. Let the discus get used to your water. They are actually very strong fishes.

When i started discus i bought most of things on market for discus, blackwater, discuss buffer, discus trace elements, vitamins etc i like to read labels behind and try to play alot end up when doing wc always need to redose etc . waste money , effort and not necessary for them to thrive. They also will get a shock and its very troublesome. Now i only use blackwater for inducing them to breed but normally wont work for me also hehe need to see their mood.

Best is dont put anything just a good anti chroline like baxter or seachem and if possible wc frequently. Jiayou bro.

Bro, keeping discus is like this one. The other way which i have tried before is to have very good water filtration. I used to invest in a 300 dollars ehiem canister meant for 100 gallon tank + 3 feet ohf with only the need to add a bit of yellow powder, blackwater, salt and the right amount of anti-chlorine at each wc. However, i still practice 50% water change weekly and filter maintenance monthly. This is slightly more relax nia.

My discus frys tank is standard internal sponge filter with regular wc on 4ft outgrown tank. My parents always kpkb when i change water as i always spoil the tap outlet. Repair 7 times for 7 years.

Since now you have gotten the discus buffer, just make sure the ph parameter is stable at ard 6 to 6.5.

Feed more
Water change more if possible
more space for the fish if possible(affecting the growth)

Why need to waste those $$ when a simple water change can do.
your present tank is very small to me (I believe you use pail to W/C)
instead of buying all those chemical things
might as well get a long hose all the way to the toilet
use the same hose to suck and release water

I think it is the cocktail of chemicals that kill your fish. I am keeping dwarf cichlids, I doing a minimal 10% WC every 2 days. I do not add anything. Weekly just dose Dennerle S7. Seachem Prime only dose if WC at least 50%. Discus and dwarf cichlids need soft and acidic water.

Adding too much chemical to buffer or change parameter, water will be unstable. Daily wc with several frequent small feeding will keep the fish healthy.

Only anti-chlorine when water change, maybe add some aquarium salt for anti-stress during wc.

No way to lock ph... It will still fluctuates by 0.1 to 0.5.

Use the right amount of buffer and do frequent water changes. Usually, I dose seachem safe and stress coat only. Discus Buffer is only when ph and gh fluctuates during major water change.
