those who want to try rearing these juvs to adulthood can go check it out.
provenance & reliability of the breed/identity is a bit difficult for me to ascertain.
Thanks for the Chua Chu Kang Info. A bit ex for a 1 inch juv, i have 4 that died which i bought from else where due to stress. Indian Mahseer and Blue pricing seems quite over the top too bro - i hope you didnt burn a hole there.

The pics you posted look red to me, they are the normal bodied red. You can also try looking for the deep bodied red (short gilled), which is rarer.

Welcome to the exciting journey together.

EXPERT! Thanks for seeing me so up . I just learn from reading and some genuine observation. I hope i didnt offend people with my frankness. I have been a victim of a mistaken kelah buyer before so i hope by sharing can help lessen people falling into the same situation. Moreover, fish keeping is a pleasure for me so i dont really feel a chore if my little knowledge can help others.

Your new fishes show quite promising finnage and colouration. Anyway, the Pahang, Kelantan, Kenyir, etc are the same species of red from what i understand. I personally believe very strongly in the theory of genes in terms of fish colouration more over diet or environment though the latter has an impact on fish pigmentation too.

I'll try to post some pics of my short gilled, deep bodied red kelah (another type of red) - the malaysians call it Kelah Merah Bara. I have 6 pieces ranging from 2 inches to 5 inches all packed in a 1 feet tank with DIY lighting and filter.

I figured you must have bought this from c328. They always name the fish as indian golden mahseer or just golden mahseer. Anyways, they are all t. putitora.

I have also bought the so called red finned indian mahseer. Been doing some research but no in-roads on this common name. I think its a orfe of some sort.

Dropped by c328 just now & asked Aunty about her 1 inched $10 "hong qi xxxx", she says it's not red kelah & some of her customers fish when grown big dun look like kelah
I had a good look at her fishes & body etc look like kelah juv : so I m very confused
Any bros bought those fishes a while back & can show us the adults/grown versions now?
