Default DIY: changing my tank base colour

Just sharing:

As sand is harder to maintain and it will be costly to ask tank builder to change base oyama due to my main tank connected to my sump, i have measure and use tiles to change the base colour.

Cost of tiles: $8
Cost of cutting tiles: $2

Before

After

Good and cheap way of changing the base colour of the tank.

My concerns will be algae stuck between the gaps of the tiles, which will be very difficult to remove then...

Hi bro. I got them directly from my HDB contractor lol. Only $1.60 for a piece of 30cm x 30cm tiles. I am not sure if they are safe. But i tested two pieces in my tank for 2 months seem ok.

Let me know if u wan the contractor contact.

To add on. I did not silicon them to base. Just lat them down. And yesterday when i shift them. I am surprise by the shit that stuck underneath the tiles. Much lesser than i expected.

Did u monitor the ph after the change? My concerns will be of the materials in the tiles... Could have lime which may turn the water acidic slowly...
