Congratulations on your purchase bro. What you have is a burundi frontosa. They are fairly common and widely available in the market. The more xpensive are the Zaire blues which are much more rarer and costlier. The ones that are in between are the mimpbewe.

They grow very slowly. Takes 2 years to reach 5".

Yep, Tangkanykans seem to be slow gowing species no matter type. Could be the environment or conditions they are living. The Lakes of Africa have their own special conditions
