Default Advice for new 20gal African cichlid tank

Hi Folks,

i have started a new 20gal African cichlid tank and need some advice...

================================================== ==
here's my setup:
Tank = 2ft tank (20gallons)
Filter = 1200 Liters per hour - OHF (over head filter with coral chips)
Sand = Coral sand + 1 bag of Coral chips
Decor = 3 * "Herp craft" stone caves
Plants = 3* plastic plants
Food: Nutrafin Max spirulina sticks
================================================== ==

Fishes
1* Labidochromis caeruleus (male yellow Lab) at 1.5 inch
1* Aulonocara (male Blue Peacock) at 1.5 inch
1* Neolamprologus brichardi (unknown sex) at 1 inch
================================================== ==

My questions:
can i added anymore fish? eg: 1*Synodontis multipunctatus (Synodontis catfish)?
i would aslo like to keep victoria lake Paralabidochromis sp. 'fire'
http://www.hillcountrycichlidclub.co...sp.%20fire.pdf

it this ok or over crowded?

thanks

Bro, my 2cents worth...more fish less deco or more deco less fish bro. Increase aeration, more aeration. You can add two to three pieces bro. As said reduce the deco, plastic plants are just as it states PLASTIC (Yuks) soory my personal view only. Use natural deco - no driftwood as it affects your ph Synodontis multipunctatus or Cuckoo Catfish does better in pairs

Think 2 ft should be big enough for 5 occupant at the beginning. I will be more worry about aggression.

hi bro

yes i have noticed abit aggression...
my "yellow lab" seems to be the "BOSS" in the tank.

even though he does not really attack the blue peacock or bichardi.
he does chase them abit when they come close to his cave.

i was wondering that if sydontis catfish is aggressive?

My cat fish is very friendly its an angelicus, aggression is sometime more than a species issue. Some individuals do show more aggression.

I went today to Qian Hu, there is a tank of Synodontis Multipuntatus, there are about 6-7pcs 4-5inches and cost $35 ea. They are very active and very well fed.

hi folks,

just an update...

after 3 weeks in my tank...
the yellow lab begins to show domination.

the bichardi also begins to fight back the yellow lab even though it is much smaller.

only the blue peacock and sydontis catfish are peaceful...
